"You see, the hospital gave up on her, we didn't. We carried on fighting for justice and she has proved the hospital wrong by showing all the things what they said she can't do--and is doing them. We will continue to fight for her all the way as we believe that under any circumstances you don't judge on an innocent childs life ."

Seventy percent…

Charlotte is still ill; she is now in 70% oxygen in the head box. The doctors aren’t telling us much more than it is an infection. Please keep praying.

The social services are still saying she will be put in foster care away from Portsmouth as soon as she gets well; but there is a Court hearing tomorrow and perhaps we will know more after that.

  1. Poor Charlotte; I hope she feels better VERY soon.

I think it should be thought of that foster care is a positive step; it gets her out of the hospital, away from the ward and other ill children, into a family environment.

Darren will always be her daddy, no care order or court hearing can change that, but the priority must be to get Charlotte out of that hospital bed and into a stable home. I’d have loved to foster her myself, but Manchester is much too far from Portsmouth; it’d make it too hard for her to see her family.

  4. What would be the implications of that? For example, who would then have say over her care? Would Darren be able to visit her in her foster home, or is the point of making it away from Portsmouth that they are trying to isolate her from him?

Let us know what happened at the hearing.

  5. I keep praying for Charlotte to be with her Father. It doesn’t seem right that he should be denied that by bureaucrats that dislike him. How far away from Portsmouth are they planning on moving her?
I hope Debbie gets through her current trauma, too. Obviously, we are pretty much in the dark about her, but realise she must be pretty done in emotionally by all this.

  6. I don’t understand something. Why do they want to put her in foster care when she has a loving family???

  7. How’d that court hearing go?

  8. Tara, _they_ probably say it’s because her parents have broken up and the one who shows the most interest (Darren) tried to commit suicide. The argument is that he’s not fit to care for her. I tend to think, though, that an unspoken agenda is getting her into the custody of people who won’t give the hospital a hard time about putting a Do Not Resuscitate order on her whenever she gets sick–in other words, about having complete control over her medical care.
